The Firewalk is special since it’s more than just a personal challenge – it’s an opportunity to make a real difference in the world by fundraising for worthwhile causes. By participating in this event, you’ll be contributing to the following three causes which will make a lasting impact on communities across the UK and India.

• Humanitarian Care: Providing more fresh and nutritious vegetarian meals, and energy bars to the homeless across the UK. Since January 2022 the project has distributed over
  • 10,250 meals to rough sleepers in Manchester
  • 1,200 meals to the needy in North West London
  • 1,250 energy bars to rough sleepers
• Education Care: Breaking the cycle of poverty by supporting education initiatives for underprivileged children and youth in India to uplift current and future generations. The charity we are supporting in rural India currently hosts 370 children in primary and secondary school and provides education, uniforms, and schooling supplies free of cost.
• Animal Care: Enabling life saving medical treatment to injured and unwell animals in much-needed parts of rural India. This new facility will be critical for the welfare of these animals, and the wellbeing of the farming and tribal population of South Gujarat. A portion of this fundraiser will go towards building a new 150 bed animal hospital facility which will span 47,000 square feet.

An opportunity to innovate for impact!

A social impact hackathon where you will be working in groups to create solutions to pressing social challenges facing the UK today.

Our themes for 2023 are:

• Breaking Down Barriers: How can we improve access to mental health services within the South Asian community.
• Opening Doors: Bridging the gap to housing access for young professionals.
• Less Waste, More Taste: Rethinking food usage to ensure food security.

Kick off with a large group lightning discussion on your chosen theme.

Begin the process with your team to brainstorm solutions and formulate ideas to address the theme.

Work your solution into a format, ready to present your idea to the distinguished panel of experts.

The winning team will be in for a special prize!

Throughout the entire process you and your group will receive guidance and advice from a real life expert in the field to ensure you are progressing on the right track. Put your creative mind and problem solving skills to help those in need!

Please note, The sporting events and Hackathon are likely to overlap, therefore each individual is requested to select only one to participate in – Sports or Hackathon.

Come together with players from all over the UK and bring out your best game for indoor and outdoor sports including football, netball, cricket, and badminton.

Get ready to collaborate, connect and challenge yourself to bring your best game for your team and take home the medal!

A few things to note:

• As the Youth Festival is running across 2 days, multiple sporting events may take place simultaneously. Therefore, each individual is only able to participate in any one sport.
• The sporting events and Hackathon are likely to overlap, therefore each individual is requested to select only one to participate in – Sports or Hackathon.
• You will not be able to amend your selection of Sport once submitted. However, if you have made an error during registration with regard to the category selected, please email us at uk.registration@srmd.org clearly stating the error and the team will review your request and get back to you.
• Where possible we request participants to bring your own Cricket bats and Badminton rackets. Should this not be possible and for other sports, we will provide all equipment needed.
• If playing Badminton, Netball or Cricket please wear regular trainers. For Football, please bring Astro boots or trainers (metal studs will not be permitted).
